At Rally Canberra last weekend, apparently some competitors were surprised to discover that their seat belts were no longer approved.

Seat belts with a FIA 8853/98 or 8854/98 label have a five -year extension to the stated expiry date, whereas those with a 8853-2016 label expire on the expiry date.

It may pay to check your belts, and helmets too.

Also make sure you have two seat belt cutters in the car.

While all cars are not automatically subject to scrutiny from the Chief Scrutineer at Mitta, you may get picked up in an audit.

Non-compliant belts or helmets unfortunately means immediate disqualification.
